This is my favorite place for take out after a busy day. $27 family feast, brings home enough food for 4 people. A pint of pulled pork with all the crusty, bark bits, 4 different sauces (I really like the mustard kind), some Cole slaw that isn't too wet and very peppery the way I like it. The Mac n cheese is delish. my favorite part of the meal is the hush puppies with cinnamon butter. it comes with a gallon of tea also. great deal. The decor of this place is pretty awful. Their are tables outside so I can bring my dog. I very much enjoy the BBQ House.

We went here to see what was all the fuss about. Perhaps many people would give McDonalds a four to five star rating also. This restaurant has the appearance of a former fast food restaurant, right down to the computer topped trash cans. My honey ordered the ribs and I ordered the fried chicken and ribs for $13.99 which came with two sides, I chose cole slaw and onion rings. My honey chose fried corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. I tried his fried corn on the cob, and my first words to him were, "Why would you deep fry such sweet corn?" The ribs were tough to pull apart, and when I asked the waitress for a knife, and she seemed perplexed and went missing for a while, then finally returned with two dinner knives. We should have been given steak knives to cut them, as the knives we were given were too dull. Once apart, the ribs were tender, but not flavorful and it seemed as if someone poured Sweet Baby Ray's Sauce over them. I asked a male server if the ribs were baked, but he said they were smoked. Later on, while driving behind the restaurant, I noticed there was no smoker in the rear. The onion rings were absolutely marvelous! Tasty, crispy and a decent piece of onion in it, cooked just soft. The cole slaw was good, just could have used a little more dressing, as mine was a little dry. The sweet potato fries were just ok as were the hush puppies. We left the restaurant, without speaking, it was unsaid that we wouldn't return. My honey said, "We tried it". Later, we stopped for ice cream, elsewhere and discussed our disappointment in this restaurant. We have no reason to return to the BBQ House.

Wonderful smokey BBQ! We enjoyed our lunch here. After being turned off by the look of he place, we entered the recycled fast-food restaurant building. Rebecca, our server, was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with suggestions. We split the large combo platter and we were very happy. As others have said, you couldn't cut the ribs - you didn't need to! We literally pulled the bones out of the meat and pulled it with a fork. It was fabulous! The pork was great and the Mac and cheese was phenomenal. We would not try the fried corn on the cob again and we didn't like the brisket which was he special today. It seemed too fatty. They had some good looking take out family specials that you could even get through the drive thru for a quick dinner after work!

If I could rate this place a zero star, I would. The first time we ate here was 2 years ago, we thought we would try it again even though the first time was terrible. We thought it might have improved ---WRONG! We ate here last week while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. There was 10 of us in our group, 3 of which were kids. We took 2 booths. We ordered and put everything on one check, then about 15 minutes later the waiter comes with our drinks and told us the wait for our food would be about 20 more minutes because they were busy. OK, no problem we are on vacation no rush. About 30 minutes later, now we have been here 45 minutes, the waiter comes to refill our drinks, and tells us our food isn't ready yet. Ok, now the kids are hungry and tired of setting in one place. However we continue to wait. To make a very looonnng story short. 2.5 hours later we finally left the restaurant. NO ONE ate all their food, most of it was cold, some of us didn't even get everything we ordered. The managers response to our complaint was, they were short handed because it was hard for her to find help that would always show up. What the heck!! That's not our problem. It wouldn't have even been so bad if the food was any good at all. The manager told us the meat was all cooked in the smoker in the morning and kept in a warmer. Yuck! and if that's the case, why did it take so long for us to get food that was already done???? We were not the only ones upset, we overheard 2 other tables complaining about the wait, and bad food. I would never eat here again. Also the bathrooms were FILTHY!!

When they first opened I would have given them 5 stars. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Sadly, now they have no problem serving ribs that are old and dried out. I have a stomach of steel and even I had to spit out half of the small slab they give you in the combo plate. Pulled pork always seems to be moist and delicious though...hit and miss on the ribs.

We go to this place every year and we are never disappointed. Ribs, pulled pork and sides are always right on

I'm giving it five stars considering the quality of food and the price. I have had terrific bar-b-q, but it was not as affordable. Located near Bank of America in the old Fasioli's restaurant, the BBH has great dinners at a reasonable price and breakfasts (they open at 7:00 am) I have been there twice, ordering the Hickory Smoked BBQ Sandwich Plate with hush puppies, collards and french fried sweet potatoes for $6.99 - and it's fantastic! Generous portions, flavored to perfection, and you choose one of 4-5 sauces you might like. Their "plates" offer sandwiches, chicken, ribs, a vegie combo, with hush puppies and two sides. Sides include: slaw, baked beans, potato salad, sweet potato fries, corn nuggets, fried corn on the cob, fries, green beans, fried okra, onion rings, collards and texas toast. Their Brunswick stew is AWESOME! I took some home and threw it in the freezer for a no-cook day. Prices run from about $6.00-18,99 for a full rack of ribs. Breakfasts average about $5 and look appetizing. I liked it so much I asked for a gift card for the holidays. It's close, a comfy environment, the food is great and the prices are equal to fast food!

My husband and I visited BBQ House on our trip to nearby OIB last year and were eager to go back last week when we returned. They did not disappoint! The service is friendly and welcoming and the price is great. The food is very good and the portions are huge. Everything is well cooked, tender and they have 5 different sauce options - all very tasty. The Brunswick stew is amazing, the corn fritters are very good - really everything is great. We can't wait to go back next year when we visit OIB!

Stopped here for lunch since we were in the area. We have gone to the NMB site for several years, but a fire has temporarily shut that location down. Service was good and the ice tea was very good. We both had the BBQ pork sandwich which was a little dry. All of the sides that we had were very good. Green beans, baked beans and home made potato salad. You can not beat good pork BBQ. Give it a try.

Not the worst bar-b-que but not worth it either. Very disappointed that my original TRULY HONEST review was filtered.

Good stuff. Came here with three kids and two adults. The lunch specials were priced nicely. Tea was included or a soda was only .50 extra. Each meal came with the choice of homemade hush puppies, homemade chips or fries. Go for the hush puppies. The bbq pork was great. Not sauced so that you can go wild with their choices at the table. Sweet House, spicy house (not too spicy), Carolina bbq (mustard based), vinegar based Lexington and eastern styles (both were zippy and great). The bbq sandwich was on the small side. The bbq wrap was a decent size and had great flavor. Wings were regular size... Nothing special other than that good sauce on them. Fresh hush puppies with a cinnamon sauce that we couldn't get enough of. Chicken tenders were good and crispy and big enough for our youngest (4) to be filled. We will come back again.

Pretty descent BBQ! Good size portions, price is reasonable. Only complaint was small menu size. I can't say it was the best BBQ I ever had, but I'd come back for sure :)

I wasn't very pleasantly surprised. I come from a place that is crazy about there BBQ Kansas City and have to say this was pretty good. The only thing was a little slow getting food out but that was easily overlooked be the food and the service. Great waitress. Definitely go again.

Save some disappointment for yourselves. This place stinks. I had an upset stomach for the evening and day following. Go down the street to Crabby Mikes where you will get good service and good food.

Best BBQ on the beach!!! Quick and delicious. I recommend the 1/4 smoked chicken with mac and cheese and corn fritters. All meals come with free hush puppies and delicious honey cinnamon butter. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Can not say I have ever had a bad meal here. They serve good bbq and really good chicken fingers. The corn fritters are awesome and the sweet tea maks this NC boy smile. The wait staff is always friendly and that says a lot about a place in my book. If you are in surfside and looking for some bbq give them a shot. Betcha like it!!!!!!!!

Definitely will be back with our next vacation to Myrtle Beach. I started with the Brunswick stew and was very pleasantly surprised! Meaty with chunky veggies, and the broth was tangy. We split the 'Who's Yer Daddy' platter with 3 sides (additional side was an extra charge); mac-n-cheese, 'white' coleslaw (they offer a red slaw), and baked beans. The chopped pork without sauce had a fine taste, not as moist as I'd like to have seen it though. The half rack of ribs were tender and the wet sauce was just too sweet for me. The chicken wings in mild were perfect, for me at least; their idea of mild was a bit spicy/hot for the other half. We didn't make it to the 1/4 chicken, so till we chow down in left overs later, I got nothing on it. I enjoyed their Eastern Carolina sauce, as it's a vinegar base with red pepper flakes. I didn't try any of the others, so I have nothing. The baked beans were okay, def a mustard base, which I am not a fan of. The mac-n-cheese was good, with a bit of crunchy edging to it. The 'white' coleslaw was edible, not too sweet and not runny. I thoroughly dislike a runny slaw. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Couldn't have asked for a better experience for a first timer. Overall, I'd go back and I'd recommend it!

Service is worth 2 stars. Waitress took order and never checked back. After 45 minutes s I inquired why everyone that has came in after us had their food and we did not. Told us they had to make our fried chicken. I had the pulled pork. Besides the lies, the food was really good.

Enjoyed Father's Day lunch at BBQ House. The pork ribs were tender and juicy with a choice of BBQ sauce. I enjoyed the fried corn on the cob. The meal was reasonably priced and our waitress was entertaining, helpful and attentive. I'd do that again.

We went in for the ribs. The ribs were excellent. Very tender and nicely done. The corn fritters...wow! We loved the corn fritters. This place is not fancy, but it's good. They serve beer and wine. The hush puppies were pretty good too.

Absofreakinlutely the best BBQ I've had in a very long time...heard great things about this place from the.locals and had to check it out. Went for lunch on a Friday and there was plenty of seating. We were greeted promptly by Georganne who was the epitome of southern charm. We quickly decided that we wanted the BBQ sandwich platter, which for $12 comes with the sandwich, hush puppies and 2 sides. Between the three of us we got corn fritters, mac and cheese, baked beans (which my son DRANK the remnants the bowl when they were gone,) and collard GREENS-ALL DELICIOUS. Several varieties of bbq sauce were available at the table, the mac and cheese was peppery and creamy, and the corn fritters-My GAWD! The hush puppies come with an amazing cinnamon cream cheese dip that we couldn't get enough of. Also on the menu was something called "Redneck Nachos" which according to Georgeanne, was her very own creation of chips topped with Pork BBQ, baked beans, mac and cheese and Cole slaw. A definite must our next.visit. Hands down the best meal I've had in Myrtle Beach, and for half the cost as some of the typical touristy venues. Must must must go!

Everything was good we shared the grand daddy plate which comes with three choices of meat and two sides. We chose smoked chicken, ribs, and chopped barbecue for our sides red slaw and baked beans. This is the south so I ordered potato salad. Because we like to have leftovers the next day, spicy wings were also ordered. This delicious meal was accompanied with a jumbo sweet tea. Oh I can't forget the hush puppies with cinnamon sugar butter yummy. Say what shut your mouth and eat and come on down take a load off your feet. If ever in the area again we will certainly make this place a must stop and visit.

I have only one thing to say about a BBQ establishment, if you do not see smoke stacks and stacks of wood outside the BBQ house, you can deduce they do not make BBQ there. The food is good and plentiful, but I am spoiled and only patronize BBQ houses where it is cooked on premises. There are a few of these establishments but not in this area.

  • C T.

As much as taste in BBQ is highly personal and individualized, if you're accustomed to having real pit smoked fresh whole hog then this won't compare. The pulled pork is served sans-sauce as is Carolina tradition and there's plenty of good sauce on the table in four styles. If you're a BBQ purist expecting back-home style, it probably isn't. If you're not a die-hard BBQ foodie then you'll think this is amazingly good food. Don't add it as a road trip on your BBQ trail quest but if you happen to be nearby and crave some smoked pig a la Carolina, it's pretty nice, affordable, clean, and convenient.

I personally though the food was mediocre. Service was great and they really went out of their way to take care of our kids at the table and afterwards with cookies and a coin for the machine which I really appreciate. Due to this I teetered between a 3&4 star rating because of how much effort they did put in, but the entire reason why we were there was a BBQ and it was...OK...but not really that great. The BBQ itself had no taste. They had sauce you could put on it, which was helpful because the food was dried out and needed some extra oomph.

Located next to my hotel, I chose to go here for dinner. The restaurant offers complete dinners, sandwiches, and sides. I ordered the bbq sandwich platter with mac & cheese and corn on the cob. The platter was served with hush puppies with flavored butter. The bbq sandwich was filled with pulled pork without any sauce. The sauces are on the table so you can flavor it as you like with Lexington, Eastern NC & SC Mustard sauces. Mac & cheese had just the right amount of cheese, and the corn on the cob was hot and juicy. Good meal at a reasonable price.

Great southern style BBQ. Hush puppies with honey cinnamon butter was a nice touch. I had the chopped beef sandwich with fries and beans. I would call the beans average but all the rest was well above! We'll definitely be back.

Tried this place upon recommendation of a local on our first visit to Myrtle Beach. Awesome food. Truly great BBQ. Meats were tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Sides were very good as well. Staff was super friendly and recommended combos to get the most food for our money. Only lost a star because of seriously outdated decor. Please don't be scared off by the old interior...the food is well worth the stay.

My in-laws rave about this place, but I felt it tasted more like a chain restaurant. Not the knock-your-socks off BBQ or smoked meats, it is mostly grilled meat. I can't rate this place with the best, but it is a good place to eat, if you want BBQ.

Took my niece here for lunch today. Not sure who posted the previous reviews but wow...were they wrong. This is the worst BBQ place I've ever been to. You could call it fast food BBQ. I had the pork ribs, Mac and cheese and the white slaw. The ribs were dry with too much sauce to disguise it. The mac and cheese and the cole slaw had a funky taste. The hush puppies were greasy. My niece had the pork and added the house sauce...it was mediocre at best. For $23 for lunch for two, overpriced. Save your money and go somewhere decent.

I came her with my mom expecting some excellent barbeque. Well the barbeque was barely average so that was disappointing. The ribs were boiler in water then splattered with barbeque sauce. This was terrible!!! The orka sweet tea and sweet potatoes fries were good. Do not order the Mac and cheese because you WILL be disappointed. It taste like powered cheese and mushy noodle. First and last time visiting this place.

Best pulled pork I've had this side of Allman's in Fredericksburg. Plenty of food and served with a smile by Georgianne. She made us feel so welcome...AND is the creative genius behind the Redneck Nachos! Loved the sauces at the table, the collards were sweet and delicious, as was the fried cream corn and the smooth and creamy Mac and cheese. My grandson loved the baked beans so much he turned up the bowl to get every last drop! We'll definitely put this on our list for our next visit to Myrtle Beach!

    (5)
  • Jay P.

The pulled pork was tasty, smokey and moist. The fried chicken is made to order and worth the wait. Sides were fresh and flavorful. The dining room leaves a little to be desired, but all in all this definitely four star.

    (4)
  • Joseph B.

Quite possibly the most dissapointing BBQ ever! The people who own this place must not have taste buds or know nothing about true southern BBQ. Not only that the prices are steep for the quality provided. True BBQ should have flavor without sauce. This pulled pork is no more than mushy flavorless meat. no hickory smoked goodness here. The sides also leave much to be desired. The Mac and cheese tastes processed not homemade and the baked beans came straight from a can. This is my 2nd time going there. The first time I gave it benefit of a doubt a year ago when it first opened but now I know it's not going to change. If you truly know delicious BBQ then you will not enjoy this restaurant it's only the uninformed tourists who know nothing of true southern food that will find this place delectable. Don't waste your money on this sham of a BBQ joint. Go spend your 10 dollars elsewhere. On a lighter note the hush puppies and cinnamon butter are awesome but low in quantity!

Ordered a "smoked turkey" for Thanksgiving dinner 2013...the turkey was not cooked enough or properly...family that ate it [I had a different turkey as well] ended up vomiting and ill. My advice - cook your own turkey - DO NOT get a smoked turkey from this place...I know we never will again!

Poor service and very slow lunch. In my opinion prices much too high for very small and low quality portions.

Good BBQ, pleasant and attentive staff, more like a "fast food" type of restaurant, but very reasonably priced and good food. Worth the trip. Our server Haley was very pleasant and helpful. My pulled pork bbq sammitch was tasty and enough. The sides were yummy, I got the corn fritters and the Brunswick stew, Overall the food is good for a reasonable price. Great for lunch.

Fantastic! Can't say enough great things about this restaurant! First time we've been here and I'm sorry we didn't visit it sooner. For $8 each three of us got pork bbq sandwich platters that come with about 4 large hush puppies and 2 sides. We all picked the white cole slaw (you have a choice of 2 different kinds of cole slaw). I got the sweet potato fries and my mother and husband got the regular french fries. Every single bite was heaven! Asked for extra sauce and they were very generous. You also get your pick of sauces. We got the sweet which is the house sauce. So yummy. The sandwiches do not come with sauce mixed in but they are juicy and good even if you don't get sauce on the side. We will definitely go back again and again. They also have other choices but we focused only on the bbq pork! And the amounts they give you are so generous! We were extremely full!

The BBQ was flavorful and tasty. The hush puppies were good as was the slaw and onion rings. My wife got the BBQ pork sandwich and it was a bit dry. The Brunswick stew was not as good as the stuff we've had in Georgia, but still was tasty! Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy. Overall a good value for the price.

First time we have seen this place in Surfside so it is relatively new. We went for dinner and it was outstanding. The hush puppies with their cinnamon butter are RIDICULOUS!!! Between us all we had the pulled pork, chicken, and kids had the bologna and cheese sandwich. Sides we had were deep fried corn, fries, corn fritters and white cole slaw. Everyone was happy and nothing was bad. Service was good and friendly and we used a coupon from one of the coupon books from here so the price was right too. Great food, good atmoshphere and great staff. We plan to hit it for lunch later in the week before we leave. Did I say the hush puppies and cinnamon butter are ridiculous!!!

Good BBQ. Hushpuppies and cinnamon butter were great. Couldn't muster up the courage to try the redneck "donut" (Hushpuppies with ice cream and the cinnamon butter) but I wish I had. Note to people trying to find this on their Gps, their are 2 1205 highway 17 N. make sure you put in Surfside Beach, or you will end up close to the sky wheel looking for a nonexistent place.
